Moral values and impact from the short story"SINIGANG"

by Marie Aubrey J.Villaceran

the short story “Sinigang” written by Aubrey Villaceran contains moral values including Forgiveness. Forgiving is not easy to give un someone who hurt you or sin you. I know that forgiveness depends on how sin or mistake was done. Maybe I’m the one that should give forgiveness . I don’t know. Maybe I forget.Because we should not remember the mistake ,right? What we learned or the lesson we got from that mistakes. As a 21st century learner ,and as a impact to us,Forgiveness is a choice not an option .It’s very sad when members of the same family do not talk with each other. “No family is perfect. We Argue, we fight, we even stop talking to each other at times. But in the End family is family”. The love will always be there.

The lessons I learned in the amazing short story “Sinigang”. It will really teach every reader about the importance of having a strong foundation between family members, respecting, being strong, apologizing and forgiving especially to the Filipino families who are experiencing the same issue with the story.

After reading the story, I came with the conclusion that the story entitled “Sinigang” emphasize the moral value of kindness and forgiveness. We all make mistakes but Liza is different that no matter how much others have made with her, she does not instill angry in her heart. She accepted everything as well as the thing that could ruin them as a family.Instead of being angry with his father, she prepared his father’s dish-SINIGANG.For Liza, family is the most important thing than anger and forgiveness is the way to be happy.

Sinigang left a massive impact on how I see the true face of life. Life is not always fun and easy, it is not as perfect as what we see in movies and series. Life is full of obstacle & challenges, especially when it is about our families. We all have different family status but these does not define who we are. Even if you are from a broken family or what not, you are valid and worthy. Everyone should honestly keep that in mind.
